Park Committee Meeting Agenda/ Minutes

7:00 PM
In attendance: Roger, Ted, Mark, Ruth, Erin, Jeremy, Deb and Rep from Gerber.
Guest Presentation: Gerber Playground
Presentation by Gerber Leisure Products with discussion on playground options, cost, preparing site, order time, warranty, set up, etc.
Selling points included: high quality, modular set up, use powder coat finish paint (optional), all fastners are stainless steel, all equipment meet the minimum standards of the Amerciatn Safety Testing Measurements – ASTM, stainless steel parts has a 100 year warranty, all chains have a 3 year warranty
2.5-3 weeks to get equipment once ordered; need to set date early to ensure date is available for set up
Site size is 43x76
Initial set up looking at 4 pc swing set; swirl slide; bobbles for toddlers,; 1st phase expected to cost around $10,000
Set up – a Saturday morning project needing about a dozen people.
1 week is needed for site work preparation
Suggest Row pads ($85 each – under swing set)
Suggest Wood Chips for ground covering – the best for safety concerns and meets ADA compliance
Project costs include: concrete set up $150-200; equipment cost $36.95; wood chips @50 yards $1500-2000; no charge by Gerber to come & help set up and give direction to volunteers on set up day
If we order with Gerber, they will toss in Park Bench at no extra cost.
Goals for 2010
Get 3 bids for playground equipment; order, have installed by mid-summer.
Put in the gravel road to the river
Have 1-2 fundraisers during 2010; a possible community garage sale – Deb will look into options for setting up the community garage sale, and the Fall event in September.
Determine what options will be included in the park layout and how long to complete; goal is to complete in 3 years
Develop Budget – will be finalized after playground bids have been submitted
