Welcome: Everyone introduced themselves; Mark mentioned that Deb Broge had been appointed as the Park Committee Chairperson at the January Town Board Meeting. Deb introduced Vern Lee who was present to do a presentation for the new playgournd.
Guest Presentation: Vern Lee – Lee Recreation – Playworld Systems
Vern gave a brief history of the company; family based out of Cambridge
Provided 2 layouts; Proposal #1 came in at $9,954 but included 1 modular system with 10 activities which included 2 slides, 2 climbers, and more; 4 swings, and 1 spring rider. Proposal #2 was $9,804 that included 4 sings, a spring rider and a modular unit with 7 activities which included 2 slides and a climber; Committee liked proposal #1 best for the cost and the variety of activities
Equipment is ASTM certified, meets all ADA & federal requirements
Super Durable Paint is used that retains 80% of its brilliance event after 5 years (that is in heavy use – ours would probably retain its brilliance much longer)
Modular systems are galvanized steel 3.5” or 5.5” round – depending on the platform width – most go with the 3.5”
All plastic parts are compound plastic so the colors go all the way through – there is a 15 year complete warranty at 100%(not pro-rated)
All hardware – stainless steel/tamper proof/lifetime warranty; fasteners on swings are galvanized so they won’t rust and don’t pinch
Decks – 15 year warranty
Spring riders have a 15/20 year warranty
Installation, no charge for simple swings, spring rider and slide; brings equipment, installation in one day with volunteers
Recommended cow pads under swings (can be purchased at Farm & Fleet
Recommended rubber wood chips; don’t need to go as deep as wood chips; they are ADA accessible; don’t need replacing like wood chips; these chips would run $2000-$3000 as compared to $1500 for regular wood chips
Vern left a binder with proposals, layouts, and board displays to review
Discuss 2 Bids to Date: Based on the 2 bids thus far, the committee was very impressed with the cost, quality, and service that would be provided by Playworld Systems (they also put in 3 playgrounds in Belleville including the new park. Final presentation is from Burke who will present in March.
Review Minutes: Ruth mentioned corrections to be done; Deb will correct.
Misc/Other: Deb mentioned that the Green County Humane Society had booked the park for their July “Pedal for Paws” bike ride/fundraiser.

Respectfully Submitted,
Deb Broge
