SPECIAL MEETING- APRIL 19, 2010-- ROAD BID OPENING ***DRAFT***
Chairman Fahey called the meeting to order at 2:30 PM. Present - Fahey, Gundlach, Zweifel, Christen and Scott Construction rep.
SEAL COAT BIDS- Scott Construction- $78,195, an estimate from Green County Highway- $68,188.00. Both parties included the shared cost of Argue Rd. The board and Alton discussed the sealcoat job of last year and felt there was less dust, less stone loss and less resident complaints and were very happy with the work in whole.
Motion to accept the Scott's bid pending the approval of Town of New Glarus of their portion of Argue Rd project. Second by Roger. All ayes.
CRACK FILLING- Crack Filling Services- $22,300, estimate from Green County Highway- $10,087.
Alton felt the cost difference was due to the amount of cracks actually being filled and the board noted that they have been very happy with the quality of work done in the past by Crack Filling Services. Motion to accept the bid from Crack Filling Service Zweifel/ Gundlach, all ayes, motion approved.
WEDGING- Green County was the only group to submit. Estimate for wedging- $26,800. The TRIP project, which has been approved by the State, is $62,985. The board discussed the cost of all the work and the 2010 budget amount of $135,000. Ted recommended that the board does all the necessary roadwork and not do the TRIP project this year. He would check with the Highway Commissioner to see if we can carryover the TRIP funds of $11,000 into 2011. All board members agreed that it was most important to do the needed road work for maintenance of the roads and that the TRIP project was an elective project and should take second place to the necessities. They felt even if the money would not carryover it was money we never had and that the additional $62,985 was just too much to spend on one road. Motion to approve the wedging bid without the TRIP project (Tunnel Rd) was made by Zweifel, second by Gundlach, all ayes, motion approved.
Motion to adjourn Gundlach/ Fahey.
Respectfully submitted,
Candee Christen, Clerk
