Park Committee Meeting Minutes
Monday, April 5, 2010
7:00 PM

Meeting started at 7 pm.
In attendance were Erin, Mark, Ruth, Deb, Roger and Ted

Park Playground
Discussion by the committee included a discussion on where the playground will be placed, staking out the parameters of the site, when the equipment should be delivered and set up. Also discussed was having the Vern Lee from Lee Recreation come to the park and help layout the site and what excavation would need to take place.

The goal is to get the equipment in by Memorial Day. Deb will call Vern to set up a time on April 27th and see if he is available to come out to the park to lay out the parameters of the space requirements. At that time, a date can be finalized for installation of the equipment. Everyone available from the committee that can be there at the park should try to be there. Vern can also let us know at that time how many volunteers will be needed to help with the installation.

Budget/Expenses
A special thank you was expressed to Roger Zwiefel for his efforts to continue to raise money for the park. More than $5000 in additional funds have been raised to help with park development. Expenses to date have included: purchase of the playground equipment, the purchase of a handicapped accessible port-a-potty, installing a sidewalk, picnic table engraving. Expenses to finish the current work will include the cost of the ground covering around the playground area, site preparation, gravel road to the river, cost of concrete for the playground foundation, fuel for the donated equipment that will clear the ground for the playground.
A BIG thank you to those township residents who have donated so far. Names of contributors will be listed on the website.

Fundraisers
Committee members looked at ways to help fund the expenses of the park. A tentative date of September 12th was discussed for the 3rd Annual Fall Event, plans forthcoming. Also discussed was the possibility of a “band fest.” There was a lot of interest for this as a future event that would draw more people to the park. Finally, the committee reviewed a letter that will go out to township residents letting them know of the park progress, future plans to finish the park, and funds still needed for completion. Deb will finalize the letter and take to the printer. The goal is to have ready for the next committee meeting to put the mailing together.
